Short description of the project

The assignment of the project was to:

  1. Determine the route for the crude oil pipeline from the Greek Border to Okta refinery in Skopje,
  2. Establish trigonometry and polygonometry networks for the needs of the project
  3. Execute detailed surveying for a zone of 50 m around the pipeline route.
  4. Perform any additional service that the client will request.

The length of the route was 145 km, and in some parts it was going through very difficult landscape in the mountainous areas. Through the process of the determination of the route it was requested from the client to try to use mostly public land, to avoid urban areas and to minimize the crossings with big infrastructure objects and natural barriers.

We managed to find compromise between the requirements of the client and the applicable laws and standards in Republic of Macedonia, which in some items of the assignment was not easy at all. The difficulties were mostly with the non-adjusted geodetically networks in the country, so the adjustments of the trigonometry and polygonometry networks for the project were on academic level, because of the high precision requirements of the Client and the Supervisor of the Project.
